For this special kickoff to the Twin Cities Book Festival, join the local literary community for a celebratory night of terse verse that’s equal parts levity and brevity. Acclaimed writers will read quick quips in twenty seconds or less; an open mic segment will follow, so if you've got your own short poem to blast out, bring it. Or arrive early for our brevity writing workshop, where you can compose political haiku, art reviews in couplet form, or mini-odes to your favorite things, among other zingers—as long as it's brief and you're ready to be social, we're game!

Writing Workshop, 6–7 pm, Garden CafÉ

Poetry Party, 7–8 pm, Garden Terrace Room

Savory snacks and a cash bar await your pleasure at the poetry party, and there will be door prizes galore. Don't miss it! CLICK HERE to view Facebook event page.

Social/Brief is co-sponsored by Rain Taxi and the Walker Art Center.
